It’s Time To Replace Windows XP

For 13 years it served us well, but now its not very spry, and the young ones are showing it up.  That’s the “beloved” Windows XP operating system.  Seven years ago, Microsoft announced that today would be the End of Life for this venerable champ, but several million people still run it on their computers.  After today, however, though it will work, it will be subject to the various malware diseases, and your data is completely at risk.

Since XP, Microsoft has had several newer versions of its operating system, and the current Windows 8.1 U1 brings superior performance, security, and versatility.  The critics may love to attack it, but then what would they do if there wasn’t something to be negative about ?  The fact is it is a superior product to XP, and deserves the attention of consumers.

Microsoft will no longer release any updates to Windows XP.  Though it will work, any vulnerabilities that hackers seek to exploit will go unprotected.  Third party anti-virus programs may help, but ultimately hackers will penetrate holes they can find, and your data will be at risk.

There is only one solution and that is to upgrade your operating system.  This may require a new computer, but there are excellent options available with more speed, storage, and flexibility.

You can keep the old XP machine for the kids, but take it off the internet, and do not install any programs that contain personal data.  You can also donate it to an agency that can use it, including schools, charities, and training centers.

We can have many fond memories of XP, but now it’s time to say goodbye.
