Special Label

MLS 2026 includes a flexible pricing category called the Special Label. This feature allows you to create a custom charge category with your own user-defined title.

The setup is found under:

Tools → Setup → Special Label

This category is designed for charges that:

Do not fit normal parts or labor categories

Require separate tracking

Need to appear independently on invoices and reports

Must accumulate separately for accounting or reporting purposes

Naming the Label

The setup utility provides a simple entry field where you specify the title you want the system to use.

Once entered, the label automatically appears throughout MLS 2026, including:

Parts entry screens

Workorder totals

Printed invoices

Reports

Financial summaries

The label becomes a standard part of your processing workflow.

Examples of Usage

Typical uses for the Special Label include:

Federal Excise Tax (F.E.T.)

Environmental fees

Tire disposal fees

Shop recovery charges

Core handling charges

State-specific surcharges

Industry-specific fees

One common example is tracking:

F.E.T. charges on qualifying parts and tires

Automatic Accumulation

Amounts entered into the Special Label category are:

Automatically totaled

Displayed separately where appropriate

Included in reporting calculations

This allows the shop to track these charges independently from normal parts and labor revenue.

Best Practices

Use the Special Label category only for:

Consistent recurring charges

Charges requiring separate visibility

Fees needing independent reporting or accounting treatment

Keep the title:

Short

Clear

Easy for customers to understand

A properly configured Special Label improves invoice clarity while providing more accurate financial tracking.
