Warnings

MLS 2026 includes warning messages throughout the program to help prevent mistakes before they happen. These prompts are designed to protect your data, reduce accidental changes, and avoid situations that could require significant time to correct.

Warnings may appear when:

Deleting records

Reopening completed workorders

Posting accounting transactions

Performing file maintenance

Replacing data globally

Exiting without saving

Running utilities that affect multiple records

In most cases, the warning simply asks you to confirm that you truly intend to perform the requested action.

Why Warnings Matter

Some users feel that an additional confirmation click slows them down. For this reason, MLS 2026 provides options that allow certain warning prompts to be disabled.

However, MasterLink Software strongly recommends leaving warnings enabled.

The fraction of a second required to acknowledge a warning message can prevent:

Lost data

Incorrect accounting entries

Accidental deletions

Duplicate processing

Hours of repair work

A single confirmation click is far easier than reconstructing damaged or incorrect information later.

Best Practice

Warnings are especially important in:

Multi-user environments

Accounting operations

File maintenance utilities

Inventory processing

Global data changes

Experienced operators sometimes become comfortable enough with the system that they attempt to work too quickly. Most major data problems occur not because the software failed, but because a user clicked through a process without fully reviewing the information being displayed.

Read prompts carefully before responding.

Recommendation

Leave warning prompts enabled unless:

You fully understand the consequences of the operation

You are performing repetitive tasks that have been thoroughly tested

The system administrator specifically instructs otherwise

The warning system exists to protect your business data and help maintain the integrity of your MLS 2026 installation.
