<< Click to Display Table of Contents >> Navigation: MLS 2026 Installation and System Setup > Datamanager - Your Installation and Data Management Tool > The MLS File Editor > Outputting Data |
Viewing information on the screen is useful, but often you will want to:
•print the information
•save it for research
•email it
•or manipulate it further outside the File Editor
Once you have refined your display using:
•Filters
•Column Selection
•and Sorting
the File Editor allows you to output the visible information in two very powerful ways.
Using the:
Report
option, MLS 2026 will generate a formatted report from:
the records and columns currently displayed on the screen
The report will then open in the standard:
Report Viewer
just like any other MLS report.
From there you may:
•preview the report
•print it
•save it
•or email it as a PDF attachment
This makes the File Editor an excellent tool for creating:
•quick management reports
•troubleshooting summaries
•targeted client lists
•accounting reviews
•inventory studies
•and many other custom outputs
Because the report is based on:
your currently selected view
you can create highly specialized reports without needing a custom programming project.
Using the:
Excel
option, the currently displayed data will be exported directly into a:
Microsoft Excel spreadsheet
The spreadsheet will automatically contain:
•the filtered records
•visible columns
•and current sorting order
exactly as displayed in the File Editor.
⚠️ Requirement
This option requires:
Microsoft Excel
to be installed on the workstation.
Once exported into Excel, the information may be:
•reorganized
•sorted further
•color coded
•graphed
•printed
•or used for calculations and projections
Examples include:
•sales forecasting
•pricing analysis
•client activity studies
•overdue account tracking
•labor trend analysis
•inventory valuation
•and productivity reporting
This provides an extremely powerful bridge between:
•MLS 2026 operational data
•and business analysis tools
without requiring duplicate data entry.
The exported information is:
a copy of the currently displayed data
Manipulating:
•reports
•spreadsheets
•or exported files
does NOT alter the live MLS 2026 database.
This makes exporting a safe and effective way to:
•study information
•create custom analysis
•and build management tools
while protecting the integrity of your operational data.
