MLS 2026 includes a powerful File Editor that allows direct access to the raw data contained within the system databases.
This utility is intended strictly for advanced administrative and technical work.
⚠️ IMPORTANT
The File Editor should be used ONLY by:
•the system administrator
or
•individuals with strong technical experience and a clear understanding of database operations
Improper use can:
•damage data
•break relationships between records
•corrupt accounting information
•destroy indexes
•or create operational problems that may require extensive repair work
Before performing ANY work with the File Editor:
✅ Perform a complete backup of your system.
This is absolutely essential.
Changes made with the File Editor:
•are written directly into the database
•take effect immediately
•and CANNOT be automatically undone
There is:
•no Undo function
•no automatic rollback
•no recovery protection
If changes need to be reversed, you must:
•manually restore the original values
or
•restore data from a backup
There are no exceptions to this rule.
The File Editor exists because there are situations where:
•advanced corrections are necessary
•data relationships need adjustment
•damaged records require repair
•imports need cleanup
•or specialized administrative tasks must be performed
These are technical maintenance procedures and are not part of normal daily operation.
For safety reasons:
•MLS 2026 does NOT publish complete database structures in the manual
This helps prevent accidental damage from:
•incorrect edits
•misunderstood relationships
•or changes to critical internal fields
If you need to perform a specialized task using the File Editor:
1.Create a current backup first
2.Document exactly what you want to accomplish
3.Include:
othe desired result
othe records involved
othe problem being corrected
oand any error messages or symptoms
Then send the information to:
Support@MasterLinkSoftware.com
MasterLink Software can then provide:
•the proper files
•field names
•procedures
•and recommended steps
to safely accomplish the task.
This approach helps avoid situations where:
•a small mistake made in seconds
can require
•many hours of repair work later
Access to the File Editor should be:
•tightly controlled
•password restricted
•and limited to authorized personnel only
Normal users should NEVER work directly with raw database files.
The following pages explain:
•the available File Editor tools
•how records are displayed
•editing procedures
•exporting and importing data
•and other advanced database operations
Please read these sections carefully before using the File Editor capabilities within MLS 2026.
