When you highlight a record in the File Editor and press the Edit button, the Record Edit window will open.
This screen displays:
•the field names in the left column
•and the current data values in the right column

The editor works directly with the raw database record, so caution should always be exercised when making changes.
To edit a value:
•double click on the data field you wish to modify
•the field will open in Edit mode
•type the new value
•then press the Tab key to accept the change
Once modified:
•the updated value will immediately appear on the edit form
Some fields contain logical values and will display:
•.T. for True
•.F. for False
To change these values:
•enter T for True
•or F for False
⚠️ Do not enter the periods.
The system automatically formats the display.
Some fields contain large blocks of text, such as:
•notes
•recommendations
•descriptions
•or memo information
When you select one of these fields:
a popup editing window will automatically open
This provides a larger editing area for working with extended text.
After completing your modifications:
•press the Save / Exit button
This will:
•save the changes to the database
•update the record
•and close the editor window
If you decide not to keep your changes:
•press the Exit Edit button
This will:
•close the editor
•and discard any unsaved modifications
⚠️ Changes made in the File Editor directly affect live system data.
Improper edits may:
•break relationships between files
•create inaccurate reports
•disconnect linked records
•or damage accounting integrity
Always:
•create backups first
•verify your edits carefully
•and avoid modifying fields unless you fully understand their purpose
