The MasterLink Message Center (MMC) provides an internal communication system for your business. It allows employees to exchange messages quickly and efficiently without needing paper notes, text messages, or verbal relays that can easily be forgotten.
The MMC is especially valuable in busy service environments where employees may be moving between the office, service bays, parts department, or road testing service units. Important information can be recorded immediately and directed to the correct individual for later review.
Typical uses include:
•Client phone messages
•Questions about pending workorders
•Notification of special parts arrivals
•Internal management instructions
•Follow up reminders
•Communication between office staff and technicians
Each employee should have their own Messenger account created in:
Tools → Lists → Messenger
Once configured, employees can quickly access the system by pressing the MMC button on the toolbar.
Using the MasterLink Message Center provides several important advantages:
•Messages are stored electronically rather than written on paper
•Communication is directed to a specific employee
•Time and date tracking is automatic
•Messages remain available until deleted
•Employees can review messages when they return to the shop
•Information is less likely to be forgotten or misplaced
•Managers can communicate without interrupting workflow
This is particularly helpful when:
•a client leaves a message while an advisor is away
•a technician needs clarification on a service
•management wants staff to review important information
•a client arrives unexpectedly while a specific employee is unavailable
The opening MMC display shows:
•available messages
•the current employee (Reader)
•message status
•message controls
The user first selects their name from the Reader list.
The system will then display only those messages intended for that employee.
Messages may be highlighted and reviewed individually.
Available controls include:
•New
•Read
•Delete
•Viewed
•Save
•Exit
The Read tab displays:
•the complete message text
•the sender's name
•the date and time created
After reviewing the message:
1.Press the Viewed button
2.Return to the Messages tab
3.Highlight the message if removal is desired
4.Press the Delete button
Messages remain in the system until deleted.
The Write tab is used to create and send messages to other employees.
To create a message:
1.Verify your own name is selected as the current Reader on the Messages tab
oThis automatically identifies you as the sender
2.Press the New button
3.Select the employee who should receive the message
4.Click in the message text area and type the information
5.Press the Save button
The message will immediately become available to the selected employee.
The MMC works best when employees consistently use it for operational communication. Some examples include:
“Mrs. Johnson called regarding the brake estimate on the Honda. Please return her call before 3 PM.”
“Transmission filter kit arrived for RO 12876.”
“Verify if client approved coolant service before completing workorder.”
“Please review schedule changes for Friday morning.”
•Keep messages brief and specific
•Include workorder numbers whenever possible
•Use professional language
•Delete old messages regularly
•Mark messages as Viewed after reading
•Avoid using MMC for sensitive personnel discussions
The MasterLink Message Center is designed to improve communication, reduce interruptions, and help your staff remain organized throughout the workday.
