Update Log

MasterLink Shop Writer includes an Update Process Log utility that allows users to review the modifications, additions, and corrections made to various software versions.

The Update Process Log option is located under the Help menu and serves as a quick reference tool when determining whether a reported issue, requested feature, or operational concern has already been addressed in a program revision.

Purpose Of The Update Log

The Update Log provides:

A historical reference of program development

Notices regarding feature additions

Descriptions of reported issues that were corrected

Notes regarding operational improvements

Information about pending release changes

This allows support personnel and system users to quickly determine whether a newer release may resolve a specific concern.

Version Tracking

The current update log history begins with Version 9.30.00 and continues forward through all newer revisions.

The log database is maintained continuously by MasterLink Software and may include:

Released updates

Pending revisions

Internal testing changes

Upcoming modifications scheduled for release

Because the update information is maintained centrally, the displayed log may include entries newer than the version currently installed at your location.

Important Notes About Update Logs

The Update Log does NOT necessarily list every modification made to the software.

Many revisions involve:

Internal programming improvements

Performance optimizations

Screen alignment adjustments

Database efficiency changes

Memory management enhancements

Security refinements

Compatibility updates

These types of “fine tuning” changes often improve reliability and speed without changing the visible operation of the program. Consequently, they may not always appear as detailed entries in the log.

Understanding Pending Entries

The Update Log is maintained continuously during development. For this reason, some entries may reference:

Features currently under development

Changes pending public release

Modifications already completed internally but not yet distributed

When your system receives authorized updates from the MasterLink Software update servers, these pending changes may then become active in your installed version.

Best Practices

Review The Log Regularly

The Update Log is one of the fastest ways to:

Identify new features

Learn about corrected issues

Understand behavioral changes

Verify enhancement requests

Check Before Reporting An Issue

Before contacting support, review the Update Log to determine whether:

The issue has already been corrected

A newer version is available

Additional setup changes are required

Understand That Internal Improvements Matter

Some updates may appear “minor” in the log but significantly improve:

Speed

Stability

Network performance

Printing reliability

Database consistency

Not every important improvement creates a visible screen change.

Automatic Updating

If your company maintains an active support and update agreement, the Update Log itself may also be updated automatically through the MLS update service, even before a program release is fully distributed.

This allows users to see development progress and planned improvements as work is completed internally by MasterLink Software.
